The State of the Farm Report
July is the month of vines and the beginning of big harvests. Some of the summer crops are just beginning to roll in, yay!! Cucumber salad will soon be on the menu. Twice in the last week, I shared meals with friends that consisted only of cheese and vegetables. Cucumbers are the perfect cracker! We also pulled the first planting of carrots and all the garlic this week. Next up, onions and then way too many green beans:)
Enjoy the farm tour - complete with twin squash and baby pumpkins!
Events on the Farm
Join us for yoga on the farm on July 24th from 7:00 to 8:30 pm. Find your zen among the vines.
Orange Cat Approved Recipes
Wondering what to do with this bounty? You can find all of our recipes on our website, but here are some that we’d recommend for this week:
Aunt Ann’s zucchini bread - experiment with mix-ins such as raisins or chocolate chunks.

“We had a gorgeous carrot harvest this week. You’ll be seeing them in your box next week! It’s fun because it’s Erin and Drew’s first year at a vegetable farm, and they both approved of digging orange treasures from the ground. It feels good to see a reward for all of your weeding, finally.”
Notes From Heidi in Her Kitchen
Instead of my weekly comings and goings, let’s draw your attention to the upcoming Sauk County Master Gardeners Association 2025 Annual Garden Tour, which is Saturday, June 26, from 9 am until 4 pm.
This exciting event takes place at many gardens INCLUDING ORANGE CAT CSA. The tour will feature private & public gardens featuring container gardens, straw bale gardens, perennials, herbs, vegetables, trees, raised beds, and urban plantings in the Lake Delton/Lyndon Station area. Gardens will demonstrate unique watering systems, small garden spaces, organic gardens, challenging growing spaces, and more. Gather innovative ideas, interact with garden hosts, attend garden demonstrations, and pick up fresh veggies from produce stands.
